About The Poet, Girard Tournesol

The Poet describes himself as a very introverted person. He has written poetry as a self-described private personal therapy for over 33 years. His only avenue of courage to speak with you about his experiences with some of society's most taboo topics and bring his message of encouragement about surviving some of life's darkest hours, was through a pseudonym.

During a moment of truth with a friend he came to an impossible conclusion for an introvert. That the restorative healing process he believes is inherent in all art and in particular, the creative writing process, is an example that could help others.

Through his pseudonym, Girard Tournesol, the poet can for the first time, share his poetry, his example and his message of encouragement. Above all he can show his belief that dreams, the simple kind we all have, are worth living until tomorrow to dream again or see come true.

The real life person is just a banker by trade, a pet lover and father, and faces all life's moments along side you in these difficult and impossible times. The real-life person could be your neighbor.

Excerpts from, Psalms of Fern

I have never published my poetry before and never had plans to do so. Make no mistake, the poetry and art contained here [Psalms of Fern] are simply the method, my preferred method, of delivery of this primary and critically important message. I personally could tell you in no other way.

Faux French Poet

I am not sure writing poetry for personal consumption, therapy or even the sheer joy of it qualifies anyone as a poet. So here, in continuing my honest neighborly conversation with you, if I am going to play in the guise of being a faux poet in order to bring you a message of encouragement, I may as well do it as a faux French poet. Plus, even if we as the other citizens of the world disagree with the French on any particular issue, we do seem to listen to them.
Therefore, just between you and I, I do love word play and I have never set foot in France. I cannot speak French.
